This semester's anthem

Imagine Dragons's Radioactive

Not just Radioactive, but the rest of the songs in the Night Visions album. I have enjoyed, and am still enjoying, Imagine Dragons's music for three weeks now.

Among the songs, though, Radioactive struck me the most. Probably because of my bias towards the chemistry-related title (chemistry major here!). But I think it was Dan Reynolds's breathing in the first part of the song that hooked me to Radioactive. It was so intense. I felt the exhaustion and exasperation. I may not be experiencing stress right now will make me exhale so bad like Dan Reynolds, but it will come. After all, school just started.

The music video is a different story. Here's one more reason to love Imagine Dragons.

Being Yourself

Why is this song always in the radio airwaves? I'm not annoyed though, just curious.

For those who can't understand, I am very sorry that it is in Filipino.

Yes, Ituloy Mo Lang by Siakol is a Tagalog song (if you didn't bother watching the video or didn't understand the song) about how it is alright to show your true colors. Its lyrics also has a deeper and wonderful message: don't let anyone stop you from being your true self. It makes the song versatile since it is not exclusive for the queer folks. Everyone has the right to be happy and to follow his own dreams, as long as they don't negatively affect other people. The message plus the musicality of the song deserves two thumbs up from this occasional radio-listener. I hope more songs with a similar message, or better one, and tune would hit the airwaves soon.

Payphone

"If happy ever after did exist, I would still be holding you like this"

While already excited for the official music video, let us listen to "Payphone" by Maroon 5 ft. Wiz Khalifa on repeat. For now, the lyric video will do. Time to memorize the lyrics!

Now my admiration  for Maroon 5 seems obvious, isn't it? ("Admiration" is a subtler word for what I feel for them, especially for Adam Levine, but it will do.) By the way, you're welcome! (Though the video has been on YouTube for, what? Three days already? Ha!)

Ain't A Song About Love

Recent status updates by my Facebook friends show mixed emotions about tomorrow. There are those who are super excited to spend time with their love ones and paint the town red. They really want to spread the love. A couple of couple friends make it a special occasion. On the other hand, there are those, such as I, who keep tomorrow as ordinary as possible. I am not bitter (well, maybe for my Chemistry long exam earlier) nor philophobic. I just have no obligation to keep a certain someone feel loved for one day. But mind you, if I have a special one, I would not need Valentine's Day to show how much I appreciate and care for him, right? There are certainly many days in a year for that.

Moving on... All the single ladies (and gents), put your hands up!

I have been listening nonstop to Joseph Vincent's S.A.D. in YouTube after my depressing Chemistry long exam (which I do not want to talk about). His song was like an anti-depressant. Honestly, I can partially relate to its lyrics. And I am sure many others can, too. V-Day makes singledom a little bit more obvious. And as the song says, Valentine's Day is Single Awareness Day. On another note, the song has this nice tune that I can't help but be LSS-ed.

Joseph Vincent has many other songs, so I hope you guys can also check out his official YouTube channel and listen to his other songs. By the way, he has a cover of Parokya ni Edgar's Gitara for all the Filipinos.

And the World Go Boom!

DJ Earworm recently released his music mash-up for 2011 called World Go Boom. Yehey!

I got hooked to DJ Earworm's mixes since last year's Blame it on the Pop. What can I say? He transforms your favorite songs into a whole new piece that you will love even more. I even enjoyed songs I did not notice much because of the mash-ups. And with the mixed music videos, you will enjoy watching DJ Earworm's work again and again (and again and again...). An eargasmic work of art, indeed.

Here's the World Go Boom video from YouTube. Enjoy!

You can download DJ Earworm's creations from his website at Earworm Mash-ups.

I wanna come home

I am freaking excited for the weekend! You know why? It is the long weekend of the year and I am going home with my sister. Aklan, here we come!

And since I am freaking excited about it, I keep singing songs with "home" in the lyrics.

Here's one by Michael Buble
