Christmas and Tidbits

Today, I welcome December with arms wide open.

The start of December signals the start of the Christmas season, the season of giving. It also signals the end of the year and the start of another. And the best of all, it is when kids and kids at heart start being good and kind to everyone. Now this is why this is my favorite time of the year.

Moving on...

Kiddie-Party-themed Acquaintance Party

Last night, I attended the kiddie-party-themed acquaintance party of our corridor.

Yes, it is already the second semester. Yes, it is a little too late to "get to know" each other in our floor. But, surprisingly, there were people that I only met as a co-corridor last night. It was both weird and satisfying. Weird because we have been passing by each other without eye contact and never knowing what we have in common. Satisfying because I met new people and not just new faces. At least I am now sure that I am in the midst of more awesome people, right? As I always say, better late than never.

First floor girls kids again for the night.

Congrats, again, UP Pep!

I just read that the Philippine Cheerleading Team won third place in the mixed cheer category in the 2011 Cheerleading World Championship held in Hong Kong over the weekend. The UP Pep Squad led the Philippine team and this is their second win for the year. I hope that in the next CWC, the Philippines will bag the championship. FTW!

Here is the performance of the Philippine Team. Enjoy!

The UP Pep Squad also participated in other categories. Studio 23 and Balls will air this year's CWC, according to ABS-CBN Sports' Facebook page.

Congratulations UP Pep Squad! Congratulations Team Philippines!

BTW, I got them from CoolBuster.net and IAmJammed.com.

It's My Fifth

What's supposed to happen now?

UP has welcomed me and my fellow freshmen to our second semester in college. But unlike the last semester, we finally experienced the reality of enrollment for every isko. But if you want to know, you have to go through it first. I just think that it is harder to understand something that is explained than something that is experienced. But at the end of the day, the feeling of satisfaction after being officially enrolled is just ecstatic.

And yes, my Form 5 was signed by none other than Doc Q. FTW!

I got paid zero!

As I Rode The Jeepney

I had a classmate in a social science class who studies Malikhaing Pagsulat or Creative Writing in Filipino. One time, our professor asked her for her routine when she writes. She told the class that when she rides jeepneys, her creative juices flow more easily than when she is sitting down on a desk with a clean piece of paper waiting to be dirtied. She said it works in two ways: she gets to go where she needs to go while efficiently brainstorm, both to her advantage.

My train of thought was disrupted upon remembering that class. I believe my classmate was right. Jeepney rides may be conducive for sleeping to tired bodies, but there are people, like me, stare into space unconsciously watching their lives pass by. Then all of a sudden, they find themselves contemplating about everything under the sun.

Happy Halloween!

I still have my plate full of unfulfilled activities I wanted to do this semestral break. Unfortunately, I will be flying back to Manila tomorrow so everything will be put on hold until Christmas or-- even worse-- summer. But for now, as long as I am with my family for the next [less than] 24 hours, I am happy.

So here's what I have been up to for past ten days.

Last Monday, I celebrated my birthday, of course! It was an "exclusive" party. I only had my family and relatives come. I didn't throw a big birthday bash because I only turned seventeen.
I made a wish and blew the candle. My cake was a yummy Sans rival from Goldilocks.

It's A Big Deal

In high school, I studied two provinces away from home. For four years, I have to ride a bus every weekend from home to school and vice versa. For four years going back and forth, I got used on riding buses all by myself. No big deal.

Now that I'm a college student, I study in Quezon City. Just last week, my final exams week ended, thus starting my sem-break. For me to go home, I have to either fly or swim to reach Kalibo.

Last Saturday, I checked in at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport by myself. I waited at the pre-departure area by myself. I flew on a plane all by myself. I arrived at the Kalibo International Airport and got my luggage by myself. Finally, my parents fetched me from the airport. Finally, I was home.

Wow, Just Wow

I wasn't really expecting to see this figure so soon on my blog's statistics. Reaching a thousand pageviews was swell enough for me, but the extra 17 is heart warming. Okay, maybe it is not as big and awesome a number as a hundred or more over a thousand, but this blog is not as popular as many others. So a few steps from 1000 is already a big deal.

1017. I'm still awestruck.

Bitter, and at the same time, Sweet

I really really really miss writing for my blog. October is half-way through but I have not posted any update of my life. Or even a fictional story that proves my literary ability.

Alas, I have been very busy with college especially that the end is near- that is, the semester's end is near. A lot of paper works and final exams to study for made me focused more on my academics that, somehow, it made me a dull girl. This week, although my semester has not officially ended yet, others' already had and a lot of my dorm-mates and block-mates went to their homes in the provinces. And because the sense of vacation is contagious, I felt it. Unfortunately, I still have an exam tomorrow and three papers to write.

Oh the pain! Oh the cruelty! Oh the prolonging of my agony!

But, lo and behold, I still found time to change my blog layout from this:

October is...

It is really hard to say whether I like this month or not.

For one thing, most of the submission deadlines for acad work is in the coming days. I also have several long examinations this coming week. And since the semester is coming to a close, the final exams are also scheduled this month. Talk about a hellish month.

But then again...

To my favorite person in the world!
P.S. I badly need Photoshop.
